Note new venue from August 2025

The Drawing and Painting Group has been running for two years now. We are quite a small group who enjoy Drawing and Painting and like to do it in the company of others who share that enthusiasm. We provide no formal teaching but friendly support is always available. Everyone brings their own equipment and works in whichever medium they prefer, depending on the subject they are working on. We tend to work one week on a subject we have chosen for ourselves and the other weeks we have a subject suggested. The suggested subject weeks are optional, some people carry on with their own work.

We tend to start off each session working in a very focused way, each in our own space. The room is quiet for most of the time but at some point some communication starts, sometimes someone is seeking inspiration or just wanting to discuss what they are doing. We seem to be learning a lot from each other; just seeing how other people work and listening to their ideas is very interesting.

Below are some of the examples of the work done in the group by group members since the group started in 2023. These include pencil drawings, pen and ink drawings, an autumn berries project, wildlife, snow scenes, and the ballet shoes which were part of the painting using coffee project.
