On this page you will find all the small print you could ever need but members and group leaders will also find documents such as back issues of our LINK magazine, u3a insurance documentation, group leader information. and bank details. Some of these are openly available to all but others are password protected to be accessed by members only. When you join or renew your membership with Bishop Auckland & District u3a you receive a copy of your Beacon log on details plus your password to access restricted documents. If you forget your Beacon logion details during the year then you can get a reminder from the Membership Secretary on the Contacts page To be reminded of your password to access other membership documents then contact the Web Manager or Web Editor on the Contacts page.
Policies and Procedures for Members and Visitors
Bishop Auckland & District u3a is an independent charity, registration number 1086702. We have our own constitution and our own policies and procedures that can be read below.
Photography
Every time we leave our homes we are captured on camera, starting with our neighbours' security cameras then street, shop and other commercial CCTV. It is estimated that this is up to 70 times a day* as there are between 4 million and 5.9 million cameras operating in the UK. If you pose for a photo at a u3a event then the photo is owned by the person taking the photo (copyright) and if the photo is to be used in Link magazine, on our website, or elsewhere in u3a (or even published outside of u3a) then you should be asked if this is OK. If, however, a photo is taken at an event or venue and you just happen to be around then it is as if you are going about your business in the street in the normal course of your life. Any photos on this website that include people posing have been used in good faith. We believe that agreement has been received by those concerned either directly or via the owner of the photo. There are hundreds of photos on this website and if you see yourself posing on any one of them and did not give your permission for this and want the photo removed then please contact the Web Editor and this will be done.

Other Documents for Members
In this section members can find bank details, copies of our u3a Committee Meeting Minutes, back copies of the slides from monthly meetings, and back copies of our LINK magazine. You will also find a copy of the u3a Public Liability Insurance cover note.
These are member restricted documents and you will need your allocated password to access them.
Beacon Records for Members
Beacon is the u3a Membership Management System where your records are securely stored and from whence we can send out group mailings securely. The system also provides a facility to manage our u3a Finances.
As a member you have access to your own record on the system. You can use our Members Portal to see the personal information we hold for you. You need your logon details to do this. If the information is not correct and needs changing it can be altered online through the option in the portal to 'update your personal details' (including updating your address, telephone and mobile phone numbers). The Members Portal also gives information of all our current groups and lets you know for which groups you are currently a member. If you prefer that this is done for you then please contact the Membership Secretary on the Contacts page.
Information for Group Leaders
This section is a private area for Group Leaders only. You'll need your allocated password to access it. It includes a financial area, more insurance information, the CC License information, and the Group Leader's Handbook. Password available from Web Manager, Web Editor, or Groups Coordinator.
