Scrampston Hall is south of Pickering but north east of York. This will be a coach trip on Wednesday, 8th July. We shall leave the bus stop outside Monaco in the Market Place at 9 am with the return around 5.15 pm. Our Scrampston Hall arrival time should be soon after 10.45 am and we shall leave the venue at 3.30 pm.

The gardens and parkland of Scrampston Hall are only open Wednesday through Sunday. The Capability Brown-designed parkland offered comfort and elegance when planned. The walled garden was designed by renowned Dutch plantsman, Piet Oudolf and features both traditional and contemporary planting. The restored conservatory is magnificent.

The gardens and parkland offer a walled garden, a perennial meadow, and a green 'silent' garden, The property offers stunning views of the local area. In the parkland you'll find a Palladian Bridge and lakes brimming with wildlife. There are trails in the gardens and parkland that are clearly marked or you can ask a staff member for guidance.

Scrampston Hall is a family home and visitors will often be greeted by Christopher, the owner. The Hall itself has limited opening days and these are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with pre-bookable tours at 12 noon, 1 pm, and 2 pm. Our date for this outing is the Wednesday, for this reason. We have reserved our hall tour for 12 noon. The tour takes approximately 45-50 minutes. There is a maximum number of 20 people for the hall tour but a larger number can be split and booked onto another tour time if necessary. We shall be met by house Butler, Craig, who will hand us over to our knowledgeable guide for the tour.

The Pantry Café and Kitchen offers breakfast items until late morning then light bites, soup, sandwiches, house specialities such as salads and baked potatoes, scones and cakes. There is a shop and plant nursery so bring a carrier bag in case you see something you want to buy.

There will be three group booking options as follows: -

  • Members wanting the coach and admission to the garden only £35
  • Members wanting the coach, admission to the gardens, and the hall tour £44.50p

The venue has advised that our members cannot use their HHA cards at this event as the negotiated rates are already preferential.

Please note that a 29-seater coach has been reserved for this outing on a first come, first served basis.

Bookings for this event will start in April and end in June to allow time to confirm final numbers, for the venue and coach company to raise their invoices, and for us to pay them before the visit.
