This group has been running since January 2020. Members suggest venues and 12 are chosen at random, one for each month of the year. Some are favourites that we have enjoyed in the past and some are new that someone has recommended we try. All venues are table service. We try to schedule several months ahead.

Anne coordinates the dates and makes a provisional booking at the venue of choice (usually for 10 or 12 people) with final numbers confirmed to the venue about 10 days before the lunch. Each venue has a slide for the monthly meeting for the 2 months before the lunch date as well as a sign-up form at the monthly meeting to gather names.

Members make their own way to the venues and arrange car sharing if needed.

Recent Sunday Lunches

  • The Green Tree, Tudhoe

    Sunday, 18th February eight of us went to The Green Tree. This was a return visit and we always enjoy lunch there. Most of us opted for the small mains as we know from experience the standard plate size is rather large. Some had starters and some had desserts and/or tea/coffee.

  • The Park Head Hotel

    Our January lunch was at The Park Head Hotel. We have been here before. It is a popular mid-week lunch spot for u3a members and several groups had informal Christmas lunch tables here in December as well.
