Microsoft withdrew support for Windows 10 on 14th October 2025. This means that there will be no more Windows 10 updates and this has potential security implications. In addition, as time goes by some apps that are being used under Windows 10 will cease to work as their support will be for the new Windows 11 operating system. Members have been asking me about this and about how they can get Windows 11.
First step is to check if your computer is compatible. Go to the Microsoft Windows website here https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/check-if-a-device-meets-windows-11-system-requirements-after-changing-device-hardware-f3bc0aeb-6884-41a1-ab57-88258df6812b Scroll down until you are directed to 'Download the PC Health Check app'. Click that link and follow the on-screen instructions to install and open the app. This app will run and advise you whether or not your PC is compatible. If it is then you will see a new link to download Windows 11 and install it.
If your computer is not compatible then I'm afraid that it is too old to upgrade. The health check above can give you detailed results as to why this is. You can continue using Windows 10 at your own risk or invest in a new computer. Please note that if you use a desktop PC and you are content with your screen and keyboard then you can simply buy a processor from somewhere like the Dell Outlet. Laptops would need to be replaced.
