On a beautiful August morning 13 of us set off from the Demesne carpark, Wolsingham for a 5.4 mile circular walk. We were glad it wasn't quite as hot as the previous day because the first half was a steady uphill climb all the way! We walked up country lanes, stony paths and fields through idyllic countryside to the high grassland above Tunstall reservoir, pausing occasionally to rest and take in the scenery. The long grass sheep pastures and open countryside is ideal for curlews and lapwings in the spring.

We enjoyed our picnic stop in a field shared with sheep and were rewarded with fantastic views across the valley to the distant Elephant trees where we walked last summer on another hot day. 

After lunch the descent was fairly easy, through fields, farms, woodland, a stream and past a mobile homes' park back to the road and car park.
