  • Hannah's Meadow

    Our visit in June was to Hannah's Meadow in Baldersdale, the meadow is pasture land farmed by the late Hannah Hauxwell, who lived 'off-grid' and farmed in a completely natural way. Hence the land, uncontaminated by pesticides or artificial fertilisers, supports a vast array of wild flowers and plants amongst the grasses that were used…

  • Crook Hall, Durham

    Our meeting in May was at Crook Hall and Gardens on the banks of the River Wear in Durham. Crook Hall is originally a medieval building which has been extended a number of times, the last significant occasion being in the Georgian period. The house is surrounded by gardens with a different charactersin each one.…

  • Corbridge

    Our first expedition of the year was to the historic market town of Corbridge on the banks of the Tyne in Northumberland, some members felt they hadn't fully captured to photographic potential of the town but the results below don't reflect this at all.

  • March 2026 -Planning Meeting

    At our meeting in March the group discussed its plans for the summer months when we normally travel to paces which offer good opportunities for taking interesting and attractive photographs; the conclusions were:- April - Corbridge, Northumberland May - Killhope Lead Mining Museum, County Durham* June - Hannah's Meadow, Baldersdale, North Yorkshire July - Seaton…

  • Still Life

    The theme for our meeting in February was 'Still Life' which proved a challenge for many of us, 'Whose idea was this?' could be heard muttered amongst the assembled group. However we all rose to the challenge with inventiveness and humour.

    For our January meeting the selected theme for our photographs was the seasonally appropriate 'Winter'.

  • Red, White and Green

    Members of the group thought that, since our December meeting was close to Christmas, it would be interesting o present photographs containing or referring to the colours red white and green. Responses varied between those which overtly referred to Christmas and those which didn't.

  • Autumn Colour

    For our meeting in November we chose the seasonally appropriate theme of 'Autumn Colour' - some members pictures interpreted this liberally rather than literally.

    Our October meeting was held indoors at the West Auckland Memorial Hall when we each displayed our best pictures from the Summer whether taken on group outings or individually.
